Summerfest is set for June 17-20 with a major emphasis on health and safety

Fountain Valley residents looking for a sense of normalcy this summer can rejoice that there will be a Summerfest celebration this year.

Set for June 17-20 at the Fountain Valley Sports Park, Summerfest will have a lot of familiar components – like carnival rides, main state entertainment, a Community Stage showcasing local talent, vendors, a fireworks show and a beer and wine garden.

However, the event will also be subject to strict health-related guidelines, including mask requirements, hand-washing stations and an emphasis on social distancing. Additionally, the city’s volunteer Summerfest Committee is making numerous adjustments based on COVID guidelines and mandates from the Orange County Health Department.

Changes expected to be in place include a $5 per-person, school-age and older, per-day entry fee. Summerfest is limited to California residents only.

Admission tickets can be purchased in advance online at fvsummerfest.com. Also, read on the website details about the limits on how many general admission tickets any given person and family can purchase.

There is no limit on ride tickets, however. Thursday will be $2 per ride. And ride tickets for Friday through Sunday will be sold at the event.

Food and drink consumption will be restricted to a fenced-off area.

The audiences for all Main State performances will be required to be at least 12 feet away from the stage, and people attending will be regularly reminded about social distancing.

Summerfest hours are: Thursday, June 17, 5-10 p.m.; Friday, June 18, 5-11 p.m.; Saturday, June 19, 2-11 p.m.; and Sunday, June 20, noon to 8 p.m.

General parking is free (limited to first-come, first-served), and VIP parking will be available for $10. Entry to the parking lots is at Brookhurst Street and Heil Avenue.

It is important to note that the Summerfest Committee will work with city and county officials to ensure that this year's event complies with all COVID safety guidelines.
