Snapshots: Tet Festival 2022 at Mile Square Park

Hosted by Orange County Supervisor Andrew Do, this year’s annual OC Tet Festival was held Feb. 4-6, 2022 at Mile Square Park. During Tet, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, families come together to honor and remember their ancestors. This important cultural celebration is observed during the first several days of the lunar calendar, beginning at the second new moon after the winter solstice, and signifies renewal and rejuvenation.

“Each Lunar New Year is associated with one of twelve Zodiac animals, which are commonly associated with certain personality traits,” Do’s website explains. “[The year] 2022 is the year of the tiger. The tiger is associated with resilience, courage, and optimism.”

The event featured live entertainment, a firecracker ceremony, cultural performances, carnival rides, food vendors and lion dances.
