Fountain Valley's Holiday Happenings

Here's a look at all of the holiday events planned for this season in Fountain Valley.


Dec. 2-4: The Crèche – Christmas Festival

One of Fountain Valley’s most popular annual holiday events, The Crèche, is back Dec. 2-4 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Kick off your holiday season by experiencing a live nativity re-enactment, a gallery of inspirational artwork, live music performances from Orange County artists and a magnificent display of nativity scenes from around the world.


Those attending will also have the opportunity to help those in need in the community and around the world with Gifts of Love.


Hours of the festival are 5-9 p.m. each day. The live nativity performances occur every 30 minutes by actors from the community. For those interested in experiencing the live nativity in Spanish or Vietnamese see thecrecheoc.com for the date and time.


The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is at 17500 Bushard St.


Dec. 3: Annual Tree Lighting

The city’s annual Tree Lighting event is set for 4:30-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Fountain Valley Recreation Center and Sports Park.


The event includes games, crafts, live entertainment, photos with Santa and more. The actual tree lighting is expected to take place between 5:30 and 5:45 p.m.


There will be food for purchase from local non-profit organizations. Also planned is the Hyundai Snow Zone.


Among the sponsors are the Fountain Valley Community Foundation, the Lily Campbell Team, Carlson Plumbing, Kingston Technology, Republic Services, Farmers Insurance – Terri Simes, and Manfred Orthodontics.

Dec. 3: Friends of Library Holiday Gift Shoppe

The Friends of the Fountain Valley Library will hold their Holiday Gift Shoppe on Saturday, Dec. 3. The Friends will be selling books, gift baskets, holiday décor, games, puzzles and more.


The Gift Shoppe will be held outdoors in front of the library at 17635 Los Alamos St. Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call (714) 968-9196.


Dec. 4: Holy Spirit Catholic Church Christmas Boutique

The Ladies of the Knights of Columbus and Friends will hold their 27th Annual Christmas Boutique at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 17270 Ward St. in Fountain Valley.


The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4 and will feature Vietnamese food, tamales, bake goods, jewelry, arts and crafts and more.


There will also be raffle opportunities with all funds raised benefitting local charities. Bring the children to see Santa.


Dec. 4: Schools Foundation Festival of Trees

The Fountain Valley Schools Foundation will hold its second annual Festival of Trees fundraiser from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4 at the Center at Founders Village Senior and Community Center.


Those attending will have chance to win completely decorated artificial Christmas trees and they’ll enjoy an afternoon of holiday music and food and drinks.


Tree sponsorships and event tickets were scheduled to be available on the FV Schools Foundation website (fvschools.org) in mid-October. Last year this event sold out.

Dec. 10: Christmas in the Gazebo

The Fountain Valley Historical Society will hold its annual Christmas in the Gazebo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 in Heritage Park.

The event will feature opportunities for family photos in the decorated gazebo at the park as well as at other Christmas “selfie” stations around the park.


The city’s Community Services and Recreation Department is planning to provide games and crafts.

Dec. 13: FVHS holiday concert at Segerstrom Hall

“Sounds of the Season — Past & Present,” a holiday concert featuring the Fountain Valley High School Vocal Music Program, will feature holiday favorites, classics and beautiful music and will include both singers and music directors from the past and present.


The concert is set for 6:45 p.m. at the Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa.


A full, professional orchestra will join singers from FVHS, along with approximately 130 middle school singers from the Fountain Valley School District and an alumni choir that spans more than 30 years of singers. Combined, there will be more than 400 singers performing.


Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday, Nov. 23. More information will be available at fvhsvocalmusic.com and fvhs.com.
