Masuda Veterans Day event is Nov. 5

Masuda Middle School will hold its annual Veterans Day ceremony at 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5 at the school. The public is invited.

The school is named after Kazuo Masuda, an American of Japanese ancestry who was killed in action in Italy in 1944. He earned the Distinguished Service Cross before giving his life for his country on Aug. 27, 1944.

Masuda grew up in Tustin and Fountain Valley, graduating from Fountain Valley Elementary School in 1932 and Huntington Beach High School in 1936.

The ceremony will take place outside on the blacktop behind the school, with seating beginning at 8:45. Masuda Middle School is at 17415 Los Jardines West. RSVP by Nov. 1 to Principal Jay Adams at adamsj@fvsd.us.
