Volunteers needed for annual Community Service Day

Time to roll up your sleeves and experience the joy of volunteerism.

The annual Community Service Day, sponsored by the Greater Huntington Beach Interfaith Council, is set for Saturday, April 21, and volunteers are needed.

Fourteen different teams of volunteers are lining up to pamper the homeless, help the underserved, beautify local parks, save the wetlands, serve needy homeowners, package food and put together needed items.

Last year’s service day brought out nearly 1,000 volunteers in the Fountain Valley-Huntington Beach community. This year, congregations, civic groups and businesses throughout Huntington Beach and Fountain Valley are bringing friends and neighbors together to serve.

“Serving in our community brings everyone together for a common good and builds relationships. When a community is united then we fortify families and individuals,” said Jynene Johnson, board member of the Greater Huntington Beach Interfaith Council. “We have great service organizations, schools, churches and clubs that all need volunteers.”
