Hyundai Thanksgiving food drive underway

Hyundai Motor America is donating 2,000 frozen turkeys to families in Orange County as Thanksgiving approaches.

“Hyundai Motor America is committed to giving back to the community and helping its neighbors during times of need,” said Zafar Brooks, director of corporate social responsibility. “This recent donation of 2,000 fresh frozen turkeys is a practical way to assist families in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.”

As a part of this effort, Fountain Valley-based Hyundai is also collecting food, hygiene products and grocery store gift cards.

Needed non-perishable foods include bread stuffing, cranberry sauce, canned green beans, boxed mashed potatoes, canned sweet potatoes, potatoes, soup, canned vegetables and canned fruit, peanut butter, jam, rice, oatmeal, pizza sauce and macaroni and cheese, among other items.

Additionally, hygiene items, including, shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, lip balm, razors and deodorant, are also being collected.

Hyundai is also seeking donations of baby items, including bottles, formula, diapers, and baby food.

More than 20 participating non-profit organizations in Orange County have been provided vouchers to distribute to families in need. On Saturday, Nov. 18, recipients will redeem the voucher at the Hyundai Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway event in Fountain Valley to receive a fresh frozen turkey and other items.

In preparation for the Nov. 18 event, the city is teaming up with Hyundai by providing drop-off locations around town from Nov. 6-16.
