Deadline to apply for public service grant is Monday
Local organizations that provide assistance for low and moderate income families in Fountain Valley are encouraged to apply for funding through the Public Service Agency (PSA) Grant Program.
About $40,000 is expected to be made available to Fountain Valley for fiscal year 2018-2019 through the Community Development Block Grant, with funds provided by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Applications must be submitted to the city clerk's office, 10200 Slater Ave., by 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 23.
In order to be eligible for funding, organizations must be incorporated as a non-profit organization, or chartered as a local unit, and be tax exempt. Applications can be for the organization itself or a program or project, as long as at least 51 percent of the clientele served earn below the low and moderate income thresholds. Applicants may apply for funding for multiple projects, but a separate application must be completed and submitted for each one.
The applications will be reviewed by the Housing and Community Development Advisory Board for evaluation of the focus, quality, and effectiveness of the proposals. Additionally, applicants will be required to present oral presentations in December.
