National Night Out, Movie in the Park is Aug. 1
Wouldn’t you like to dunk the new police chief?
You’ll have the opportunity on Aug. 1 when the Fountain Valley Police Department celebrates National Night Out at the Fountain Valley Sports Park.
National Night Out is a community-police awareness-raising event held the first Tuesday of August. The event is designed to increase awareness about police programs in the community. The Police Department is partnering with the city Community Services Department and the Fountain Valley Fire Department for an evening of SWAT and K9 demonstrations, displays and more. The event begins at 6 p.m. and coincides with the city’s first Movie in the Park, “The Little Mermaid,” which will start at dusk.
The police department will serve free hot dogs and chips to the first 500 people.
The dunk tank will give you the opportunity to dunk newly named Police Chief Kevin Childe as well as other police officers and firefighters in a dunk tank.
Also planned are raffles every 15 minutes and there will be a costume contest for those who wear costumes from “The Little Mermaid.”
