Council to get update on city’s 60th anniversary plans
Rob Frizzelle, the city’s community services manager, will update the City Council tonight on the plans for the city’s 60th anniversary celebration when the council meets at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
The city’s 60th Anniversary Committee is making plans for a Friday, June 23 fireworks show and VIP party and viewing area. The VIP party is set for 7-9 p.m.
Also planned is a 60th anniversary parade beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 24 featuring marching bands, athletic groups, youth groups, non-profit organizations and businesses.
Both events coincide with the city’s annual Summerfest celebration, set for June 22-25, at the Fountain Valley Sports Park.
The parade will travel along Heil Avenue between Magnolia Street and Brookhurst Street, ending inside the Sports Park.
Longtime sportscaster and Fountain Valley resident Ed Arnold is the grand marshal of the parade.
Tonight's meeting is at City Hall, 10200 Slater Ave.
