Motorcyclist killed in collision

A Santa Ana man was killed Saturday evening when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car at the intersection of Heil Avenue and Brookhurst Street, Fountain Valley Police reported.

Police Sgt. Steve DeSantis said the accident occurred at approximately 7:15 p.m. Officers arrived and found a male motorcyclist with traumatic injuries. Paramedics responded and pronounced the motorcyclist, identified as 20-year-old Armando Vega Andrade from Santa Ana, deceased at the scene.

The police investigation revealed that a Lexus SUV traveling southbound on Brookhurst Street was making a u-turn at Heil Avenue. The motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Brookhurst Street and collided into the right side of the Lexus SUV.

The driver of the Lexus SUV stopped after the collision and remained at the scene.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision.
