Transient arrested after entering home

Fountain Valley Police arrested a 37-year-old man Jan. 7 on suspicion of aggravated trespassing, Sgt. Tony Luce said.

Police responded to the 9000 block of Shimizu River Circle at 1:36 a.m. Jan. 7 after receiving a report that a subject was walking up to the front door of residences and approaching vehicles in the area.

The police investigation revealed that the suspect entered an unlocked and occupied residence, entered the victim’s bedroom and stood over the victim’s bed. The victim woke up and directed the suspect to leave, at which time the suspect fled, police said.

The suspect injured himself jumping over a wall and was then detained by police. Police identified the suspect as Joel Horton, age 37, a transient from Huntington Beach. He was arrested on the street behind the victim’s house.

The Fountain Valley Police Department reminds all residents to always lock their doors and immediately report suspicious activity.
