Rain harvesting class, rain barrel sale is Nov. 5

The city of Fountain Valley is again partnering with Rain Barrels International to host another rainwater harvesting class and truckload sale on Saturday, Nov. 5 at The Center at Founders Village.

The rainwater harvesting class will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. and will cover the benefits of rain barrels, proper installation, rebate information and water conservation techniques. Pre-purchased rain barrels will be available for pick up from 9 to 11 a.m.

Water conscience residents can pre-purchase rain barrels online for $85 each by visiting www.rainbarrelsintl.com and clicking on “City of Fountain Valley” under the EVENTS tab.

Each rain barrel, up to two barrels per household, is eligible for a $75 rebate from the Metropolitan Water District, dropping the cost of the rain barrels to just $10 after rebate. For more information and to apply for the rebate, visit www.socalwatersmart.com.

After Jan. 1, 2017, the Metropolitan Water District rebate will be reduced from $75 to $35.

Only rain barrels purchased online by Nov. 3, 2016 are guaranteed to be available for pick up at the event.
