Courreges tank house parade is Saturday

Are you ready for a parade?
This Saturday, the Fountain Valley Historical Society will move the city’s oldest standing structure--the 118-year-old Courreges Ranch water tank--to Heritage Park, next to the library.
Thanks to a $25,000 grant from Hyundai Motor America and a $10,000 grant from Rainbow Environmental Services and donations by generous individuals, the tank house will be moved this Saturday to its new home.
Starting at about 10 a.m., the tank house will be paraded from the Courreges Ranch at Talbert Avenue and Newland Street to Heritage Park. The route will take the tank east on Talbert to Bushard Street, head north to Slater Avenue, continue over the 405 bridge to Los Alamos Street and into the library parking lot and finally to the park.
Residents are invited to cheer on the move along the parade route and at the Civic Center on Slater Avenue where the parade ends.
Following a brief ceremony at Heritage Park, residents are invited to head to the Fountain Valley Sports park where Hyundai is planning a community party on the eve of its Hyundai Hope on Wheels 5K, which will be held the next day, also at the Sports Park.
The Saturday “Hyundai Day in the Park” is set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature food trucks, live music, vendors and children’s activities, opportunity drawings and more.
The next day, hundreds of runners are expected to take part in the Hyundai Hope on Wheels 5K Run.
The mission of Hope on Wheels is to raise awareness for childhood cancer, donate life-saving research funds and celebrate the lives of children affected by the disease. The program provides grants to eligible institutions nationwide pursuing innovative pediatric cancer research. These grants are designed to develop new treatments and ultimately a cure.
