Candidate Tom Q. Nguyen fails to qualify for election

Orange County Registrar of Voters Neal Kelley has announced that Fountain Valley City Council candidate Tom Q. Nguyen failed to obtain enough qualified signatures of registered voters to have his name placed on the Nov. 8 City Council election ballot, City Clerk Rick Miller said.

The registrar’s decision means four candidates will vie for two council seats.

The 4-year council terms of Mayor Cheryl Brothers and Councilman Steve Nagel are expiring. Both Brothers and Nagel have filed papers with the city clerk to seek re-election.

Also filing papers and qualifying for the election before the Aug. 12 deadline were Kim Constantine and Patrick Tucker.

Election day is Nov. 8. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
