Police credited with saving baby
Hospital officials are crediting Fountain Valley Police today for reviving a baby who wasn’t breathing.
Police responded to the 11000 block of Slater Avenue at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, regarding a baby not breathing call.
Lt. Matt Sheppard said the first police officer arrived on scene within one minute of the call for service to find an unresponsive 4-month-old baby being held by the parents. Police began CPR on the infant and made a decision to use the second arriving police officer to transport the child to a nearby hospital emergency room.
Upon arrival at the hospital medical personnel were able to revive the infant.
Hospital personnel stated that the rapid response, quick decisions, and life-saving actions of the police officers were contributing factors that likely saved the infant’s life, Lt. Sheppard said.
