Council nomination packets available at City Hall
Residents wishing to run for Fountain Valley City Council are reminded they can pick up nomination packets from the city clerk’s office at City Hall.
The nomination filing period for residents seeking a seat on the City Council began July 18 and will end at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12. Paperwork must be filed with the city clerk’s office, at Fountain Valley City Hall, 10200 Slater Ave.
If an incumbent who is eligible to run does not file, the deadline will be extended to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 17.
Mayor Cheryl Brothers and Councilman Steve Nagel’s four-year terms are concluding, and both incumbents have taken out nomination papers. Tom Q. Nguyen, Kim Constantine and Peter L. Maris have also pulled papers. As of this printing, none of those who have taken out papers has returned them.
To be eligible, a candidate must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years of age by Nov. 8, be a registered voter and be a resident of Fountain Valley.
