National Night Out, Movie in the Park are Tuesday

The community is invited to the Fountain Valley Sports Park for National Night Out and the first summer Movie in the Park on Tuesday.

National Night Out is a community-police awareness-raising event held the first Tuesday of August. It is designed to increase awareness about police programs in communities, such as drug prevention, Neighborhood Watch and other anti-crime efforts.

Tuesday’s National Night Out will feature displays from the Fountain Valley Police Department, West County SWAT, K9 demonstrations, the Fountain Valley Fire Department, Neighborhood Watch and more.

Free hotdogs and chips will be available as supplies last.

Additionally, the Fountain Valley Police Officers' Association and the Fountain Valley Firefighters Association have organized a dunk tank and residents are invited to try to dunk a police officer or firefighter. All proceeds from the dunk tank will go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in honor of Team Fitz.

National Night Out festivities start at 6 p.m.

The first Movie in the Park is “Monsters vs. Aliens.” The movie is free and will start at dusk.

Aug. 19: “Home” at Westmont Park.

Aug. 26: “Big Hero 6” at Courreges Park.
