It’s Concerts in the Park time!

Time to dig out those beach chairs and make sure you’re free every Thursday night in July.

The city’s annual Concert in the Park series will kick off Thursday, July 7 with Don’t Stop Believing, the popular Journey tribute band that has been performing at the summer concert series for several years now.

Concerts will continue every Thursday throughout the month at the Fountain Valley Sports Park.

Last year’s concert series attracted a record number of spectators, and this year’s lineup figures to attract even bigger crowds.

The city is collaborating with the Fountain Valley Community Foundation to provide a beer and wine garden at the four Fountain Valley Live Summer Concerts in the Park (July 7, 14, 21, 28).

The Foundation will be selling beer and wine from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. during the summer concerts. City officials remind attendees that bringing in outside alcohol is prohibited.

In an effort to offset the ongoing logistical and operational cost of the well-attended Fountain Valley Live Summer Concert Series, the foundation will be donating a portion of the proceeds directly back to the city of Fountain Valley Recreation and Community Services special events program.

This program budget includes other annual community events such as the Easter Egg Hunt, Tree Lighting, Movies in the Park and Summer Concerts.

FVCF volunteers will be staffing the beer and wine garden ticket sales booth and attendees wishing to purchase alcoholic beverages will be required to show verification that they are over 21 years of age. Professional beverage staff will be pouring and serving all beer and wine.

Here’s how the rest of the concert series looks:

July 14: Desperado, an Eagles tribute band.

July 21: The Answer, performing classic rock songs.

July 29: That Garth Guy, a tribute to Garth Brooks.

All concerts start at 6 p.m. and all are free.
