Suspect arrested in Fry’s theft

Fountain Valley Police arrested a 25-year-old Santa Ana man March 20 on a variety of charges after responding to a theft in progress call at Fry’s Electronics.

Sgt. Tony Luce said responding officers were advised that a man riding a bicycle matched the description of the suspect. One officer attempted to stop the subject with lights and siren. When the suspect failed to stop, the officer used the front bumper of his vehicle to push the rear tire of the suspect’s bicycle, which caused the suspect to fall. Officers were then able to apprehend the suspect without further incident.

Roberto Garcia, 25, of Santa Ana was subsequently arrested and booked at Orange County Jail on suspicion of shoplifting, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, false impersonation as well as for two narcotics-related warrants.

Garcia suffered minor injuries but was soon medically cleared. Garcia was also identified as a known suspect to target Fry's Electronics, police said.
