FV residents continue to conserve water
Fountain Valley residents continue to adhere to water conservation goals with another decrease in usage posted for the month of September. In September, the city saw a 27 percent reduction in water usage compared to September of 2013.
Since the city has enforced its twice-a-week outdoor watering schedule, the city has saved 335 million gallons of water, city Public Works Director Mark Lewis reports. The city’s goal is to save 500 million gallons of water.
“While this type of success is wonderful news and the community has good reason to be proud of its water conservation efforts, we need to continue that diligence through the upcoming months,” city Public Works Director Mark Lewis said. “October is expected to see temperatures that remain above normal so it is important for everyone to continue to adhere to the city’s mandatory water conservation regulations.”
All water customers are required to adjust their water use to comply with the regulations, which took effect June 1 and will remain in effect until further notice. Customers who violate these regulations will be issued a warning for the first violation and will be subject to fines of up to $1,000 for continued violations.
