Prescription Take Back Day is Sept. 26

Residents are invited to drop off old and unneeded prescription drugs at the Fountain Valley Police Department on Sept. 26 as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Days. The event is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Police Department, 10200 Slater Ave.
The purpose of this Take Back Day is to provide a venue for persons to anonymously dispose of unwanted and unused prescription drugs safely and, at the same time, remove potentially dangerous prescription medications, particularly controlled substances, from medicine cabinets.
Illegal drugs and needles, however, will not be accepted. The service is free and anonymous. No questions asked.
Last September, Americans turned in 309 tons (more than 617,000 pounds) of prescription drugs at nearly 5,500 sites operated by the Drug Enforcement Agency more than 4,000 of its state and local law enforcement partners. More information: (714) 593-4485.
