Fountain Valley Schools Foundation Sets 1st Annual Marc Ecker Golf Tournament & Ball Drop

The Fountain Valley Schools Foundation announced the First Annual Marc Ecker Golf Tournament on Monday, October 5 at Mile Square Golf Course in Fountain Valley, with over 120 golfers expected.

Fountain Valley, CA, June 4, 2015: The Fountain Valley Schools Foundation announced the First Annual Marc Ecker Golf Tournament on Monday, October 5 at Mile Square Golf Course in Fountain Valley, with over 120 golfers expected. The tournament will honor Marc Ecker’s 42 years in education, including over 18 years as Superintendent of the Fountain Valley School District and the state presidency of the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA).

Leading up to the tournament will be a Ball Drop Raffle and Picnic at Fountain Bowl in Fountain Valley on Friday, September 25 at 12 noon, where several hundred community members will gather to watch the Fire Department drop over 1,000 ping pong balls, with the purchaser of the ball getting closest to the target winning $500. Proceeds will benefit the schools and students of the Fountain Valley School District’s ten local schools through the Fountain Valley Schools Foundation’s support of enhanced curriculum in science, technology, engineering, arts and music and mathematics (STEAM). The entry fee is $150 per golfer or $500 for a foursome. Registration will begin at 11 am, and golfers will get a box lunch and can participate in a putting contest and other events. Tee time is 1 p.m. sharp for a shotgun start. The entry fee includes the cart and the Awards Dinner. Registration is open at http://fvschools.org/golf.html. The Ball Drop Raffle and Picnic on Friday, September 25 at 12 noon at Fountain Bowl will feature $5 per ball chances to win $500 cash and other prizes, as well as the option to purchase a picnic hot dog, chips and soda lunch for $5. Winners need not be present to win. Founded in 1982 as the Fountain Valley Educational Foundation, the organization changed its name last year to better reflect is focus on supporting the schools and students of the Fountain Valley School District. The school district, founded in 1898, is comprised of 10 schools serving over 6,300 students in Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach. The Fountain Valley School District receives one of the lowest amounts of per pupil funding from the state of all school districts in Orange County.
