Fountain Valley could face 20 percent water use reduction
Fountain Valley residents could face water reduction usage of up to 20 percent under plans now being considered by the State Water Board in light of the drought that is affecting California. The plan, discussed last week by the Board, would be finalized by this May, and put into effect by next February.
The Metropolitan Water District, which provides the water to the Orange County Water District, which in turn provides water to Fountain Valley residents, will discuss the plan in further meetings this week. Those discussions will decide exactly how much they will reduce sales of water to Orange County cities, including Fountain Valley.
Under the plan being considered, cities in Southern California it could be required to reduce water usage anywhere from 10 to 30 percent. Fountain Valley is tentatively targeted for a 20 percent reduction in overall water usage.
