Police arrest attempted robbery suspect

Fountain Valley Police arrested a Huntington Beach man Sunday on suspicion of attempting to rob an Arco AM/PM gas station.

Police said officers were dispatched to the Arco gas station at 8520 Warner Ave. at 5:36 a.m. regarding an armed robbery in progress. The suspect was described as a male wearing a sweatshirt, carrying a bag, and armed with a knife.

As officers arrived on scene, a male subject matching the listed description was detained on Warner north of Newland. The subject was identified as Christopher Hall of Huntington Beach. Police say Hall was in possession of a Smith & Wesson folding knife.

The police investigation revealed Hall was observed loitering near the business at approximately midnight and was told to leave the area by employees. At 5:36 a.m. Hall returned and contacted the clerk inside the business. Hall brandished a knife with an approximate 6-inch blade and demanded the store clerk to give him the money, police said. The clerk refused and Hall left the business without any property.

Hall was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and was booked into the Orange County Jail where he is being held on $50,000 bail.
