Police chief welcomes four new members

Police Chief Dan Llorens introduced two new police officers at a badge ceremony Monday at City Hall. Kim Holmes and Lorena Nelson officially joined the department and were sworn in by the chief. Holmes is a graduate of Ocean View High School and also attended Biol University. She is involved in nonprofit organizations that give aid to people in Mexico and Peru. Her brother, Jonathan, is in the Army and deployed in Iraq.
Nelson graduated from Murrieta Valley High School and attended Palomar College. She graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 2010.
Llorens also swore in Julie Koger as the department’s newest police dispatcher. Koger was born in Huntington Beach and grew up in Orange. She will graduate with an associate of arts degree as a paralegal and with a second associate of arts in liberal arts with an emphasis on social and behavioral science.
Also sworn in was George Mavritsakis as a police department management analyst. Mavritsakis was born in Fountain Valley. He graduated from UC Irvine with a degree in police science and earned his master’s degree in public administration at Cal State Long Beach. He began his career in Fountain Valley as an administrative intern in the city manager’s office.
