Police make arrest in commercial burglaries

Fountain Valley Police have arrested a 24-year-old Covina man in connection with burglaries of two Fountain Valley businesses.

Christopher Cook of Covina was arrested Tuesday at a Covina hotel after surveillance tapes of one of the thefts led police to him. Cook was taken into custody in the motel parking lot as he was about to get into a black Toyota Corolla. The vehicle was reported stolen on Oct. 8, 2014, in Covina.

A search of Cook’s motel room and storage unit revealed additional stolen property taken during a commercial burglary at a sports memorabilia store in Fountain Valley on Oct. 24, 2014, police said. The property recovered included baseball caps, an i-Pad and hair care products.

Detectives are working with other law enforcement agencies to determine if Cook is responsible for additional burglaries. Cook was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property, vehicle theft and additional warrants. Cook was booked into Orange County Jail, and bail was set at $95,000.
