The Hyundai Hope on Wheels Run 4 Hope family fun run is set for Sept. 29 at the Fountain Valley Sports Park, 16400 Brookhurst St. The 5K and 10K event is set for 7-10 a.m. and benefits pediatric cancer research. The Miss Fountain Valley Scholarship Pageant Committee is making plans for the 2020 competition, which is set for Dec. 1, 2019 in the Golden West College Mainstage Theater. The Fountain Valley Police Department is joining law enforcement agencies across the country in the national enforcement campaign, “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.” From Aug. 16 through Sept. 2, the FVPD will have additional officers on the road looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The Fountain Valley High School class of 1972 will hold its “65th Birthday Party” on Friday, Sept. 6 at the Hotel Huntington Beach, 7667 Center Ave. in Huntington Beach. (Most 1972 graduates are probably around 65 years old.) The party will have a Woodstock theme and include a hippy costume contest.
